PM Modi Inaugurates first AIIMS in Northeast In Guwahati, Assam

Prime Minister deidicated first AIIMS in the North East, built at a cost of Rs 1,123 crore on Friday


Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugrated nation's first AIIMS of northeast in Guwahati, Assam on friday. The super-speacialty hospital will not only cater to the medical needs of Assam but also other northeastern states.Additionally, he virtually opened three medical collges at Nalbari, Nagaon and Kokrajhar. 

The three medical institutions' 24 undergraduate departments in the 500-bed tertiary care teaching hospitals will begin accepting 100 new MBBS students each year, bringing Assam's total MBBS enrollment to 1500.

The Assam Advanced Healthcare Innovation Institute (AAHII), a cooperative project of the state government and IIT Guwahati, was also founded by him. It cost Rs 546 crore.

The mission of AAHII is to advance discoveries and advances in medicine and healthcare.
